An Active Transportation Plan or ATP is a framework that guides the development of non-motorized (pedestrian and bicycle) facilities in an area through overarching strategies and location-specific recommendations. Go Yadkinville assesses existing shared-use facilities, identifies gaps in the network, and proposes infrastructure, policy, and programmatic improvements.
For decades, Yadkinville has worked to improve quality of life for residents, economic opportunity for businesses, and road user experience for visitors through intentional land use and transportation planning. The Town was successful in securing a grant through the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Integrated Mobility Division (IMD) that is funding 95% of this plan. The ATP will build upon this foundation, bringing planned facilities forward and identifying new opportunities to connect with regional networks.
The ATP is expected to be complete in December 2026.
